YENAGOA (CONVERSEER) – The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to videos circulating online, Governor Diri announced his resignation in an Executive Council meeting, today, 15th October 2025.
According to Arise TV, Diri joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
Sketchy details have it that the Governor and the lawmakers may officially announce their APC membership soon.

Immediate past Bayelsa Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, who is currently representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, described the defection of Diri as “Unwarranted and politically unnecessary.”
Recall that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, barely 24 hours ago dumped the PDP for the APC.
It has been defection galore in the nation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
