UYO (CONVERSEER) – The Akwa Ibom State Government has released the names of support groups that have been empowered by Governor Umo Eno in the last two years.
According to the release by the Ministry of Information on Thursday, the administration of Governor Eno has, in the last two years, redefined inclusive governance in Akwa Ibom State through innovation and a people-first approach. Central to this vision is the integration of data and digitisation into governance processes, particularly in the area of citizens’ empowerment.
A notable example is the Umo Eno Support Group Portal, a digital platform that complements government efforts by capturing data and helping to identify and connect beneficiaries-especially at the grassroots-to life-changing empowerment opportunities.
Through this channel, thousands of Akwa Ibom people have benefitted from business and farmers’ grants, SME equipment support, and digital training programmes such as lbomLED.
To date, over N2.4 billion has been accessed by members of various support groups, forming part of the more than N10 billion in empowerment grants disbursed within just two years.
This stands as clear evidence of Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to citizens’ empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for farmers, traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs across the state.
