The Special Adviser to the Governor of Cross River State on Asset Management and Recovery, Barr. Gilbert Agbor, has described the recent endorsement rally in Ikom as a clear referendum on the performance of Governor Bassey Otu.
Barr. Agbor, who served as Secretary, central planning committee for the rally, organised by the Prince Is Coming Movement and held at Ikom Township Stadium a week ago, told journalists recently that the massive turnout reflected genuine grassroots support for the governor.
“The rally was very successful. What we witnessed at Ikom was an organic crowd; very massive and spontaneous. It shows clearly that the people appreciate what the governor has done in the last two and a half years,” he said.
According to him, the scale of participation signals strong prospects for the governor ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the outcome would be unprecedented in the state’s political history.
“The projection is simple. Governor Bassey Otu is going to come out with results that have not been recorded in the history of elections in Cross River State,” Agbor stated.
Assessing the administration, he said Governor Otu has performed creditably across key sectors, including infrastructure, security, and asset recovery, noting that visible projects across the state have reinforced public confidence.
He cited the rehabilitation of the state library, remodelling of government facilities, ongoing road construction, and the reclamation of key government assets such as the Tinapa Business and Resort as indicators of progress under the current administration, adding that efforts are also underway toward the imminent recovery of the state’s oil wells.
“In Ikom alone, over nine kilometres of roads have been awarded, and in the coming months, the face of the town will change completely,” he added.
Agbor further noted that the governor’s efforts have been strongly complemented by the far-reaching interventions of the First Lady in areas such as healthcare, entrepreneurship programmes, human capital development, education, and empowerment, which have collectively deepened the administration’s impact across communities.
He also highlighted what he described as a fair distribution of political appointments, saying it has contributed to the widespread support witnessed at the rally.
The Special Adviser also commended the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Director General of the Prince Is Coming Movement, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, describing him as a dependable pillar whose loyalty and commitment to the governor’s success have remained unwavering.
Agbor further praised the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and Chairman of Obudu Local Government Area, Hon. Peter Undiandeye, alongside heads of subcommittees and other stakeholders, for their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the rally. He urged them to sustain the momentum and intensify efforts toward securing victory for Governor Otu and all All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2027 elections.
He urged supporters to remain patient and continue to trust the Otu-led administration, assuring that more developmental strides would be delivered.
“The government is doing its best. We ask the people to keep faith and give the governor time to complete ongoing projects,” Agbor added.
