CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Students and supposed graduates of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) have taken to the campus to protest over the institution’s inability to release results in the past two years.
According to the demonstrators, some of them have graduated as far back as 2023, but the institution has failed to release their results for them to go to the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
They decried that they cannot access the students’ portal for their results.
“They keep telling us there is a problem with the students’ result portal, and two years later, nothing has been done,” one of the aggrieved students who is supposed to be a graduate said.
Another victim, who stormed the Calabar campus with a placard carrying the following inscription, “One year of waiting, one year of pain,” could be seen in tears, knowing that her mates in other institutions will go for Service while she wouldn’t.
One said her father has accused her of squandering his money since she does not have a result to show. “My own don pass one year ooo. My papa say I chop him money.”

While lamenting, they called on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, to fast-track the repair of the portal in order for their results to be released on time.
“Please release our results, UNICROSS, We are tired of waiting.”
“Two years of waiting, we are tired.”
“After all the struggles, why wouldn’t they let people graduate and have their result and certificate to show off their struggles and success. It’s very, very bad and an act of wickedness and heartlessness.”
“To go for NYSC is now harder than being in school for 4 or 5 years programme!”
Addressing the aggrieved students, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration said all the results, except Human Kinetics have been processed.
“Right now, all Education results have been processed. They have forwarded them to the Heads of Departments (HOD) to assess.
“Every other department in the University, apart from Human Kinetics. That is the one they are processing now and before the end of the day, Human Kinetics will be ready,” the DVC Admin said.
He urged the students to meet their HODs for their results, adding that, “For now, it is only your HOD that can access the results and as soon as your HOD signs and approves the result, it will then be accessible.”
