The co-founder of the Peter Bello Foundation, Mrs Thelma Bello, has urged Nigerian youths to leverage their creativity to address national challenges and promote development.
She spoke at a one-day seminar, “Calabar Photo Walk 2026,” held on April 15 at the Prof. Eyo Ita Building on Marian Road, Calabar.
The event attracted hundreds of young leaders and entrepreneurs and focused on opportunities within the creative industry.
Bello advised participants to prioritise training and mentorship as pathways to achieving their full potential.
Mrs Bello urged passionate individuals to pursue training and mentorship vigorously.
“Don’t give up, try a little better, you can carve a niche here, but first find out what you can do and perfect it,” she advised. “Go for trainings, be mentored, and be ready to burn the candle when you have to, and you will excel.”
Mrs Bello explained that the seminar was held in memory of her late son, Captain Bello, who, in his 26 years, excelled as a photographer, actor, chemical engineer, and pilot before his tragic death in an air accident.
“The Foundation seeks to encourage young ones to live their dreams as he did,” she stated.
Guest speaker Obaji Akpet, founder of Africafixers, delivered a keynote titled “Think Global, Shoot Smart.”
