In a bid to douse rising tension over commercial motorcycle fares, Mr Ewii-Ephraim Okoi Arikpo, Mr Leboku 2025, on Tuesday held a crucial meeting with Mr Felix Denis, the newly elected Chairman of the Motor Bike Association, Ugep Branch.
The meeting followed widespread rumours that Okada fares in Ugep would jump from ₦300 to ₦500.
Addressing the concerns, Mr Denis explained that the union’s proposed review was driven by the escalating costs of fuel and spare parts. Under the new arrangement, long-distance trips within Ugep will be ₦500, while short-distance trips will remain at ₦300 to cushion the effect on commuters.

To foster wider dialogue, both leaders visited the palace where the chairman further briefed traditional authorities on the proposed adjustments.
Consultations are set to continue tomorrow as stakeholders work toward a final resolution that balances the welfare of riders with the economic realities of residents.
