The Work and Service Department of the Federal College of Education, FCE Obudu, witnessed a significant moment today as the official handover of the position of Director of Works and Services took place between Engr. Nnamdi Egwu and Christian Effagwu. The event marked a formal transition of leadership and a renewed commitment to service, unity, and institutional growth.
In his opening remarks, Engr. Nnamdi Egwu expressed deep appreciation to the entire staff for their dedication and collective efforts in moving the College forward over the past one year. He described his tenure as a fulfilling experience, noting the cooperation and support he enjoyed while serving in the role of Director of Works and Services.
He urged the staff to extend maximum cooperation to the incoming director, emphasising that unity remains essential for progress. Addressing Christian Effagwu, he encouraged him to foster togetherness within the department and to lead with a spirit of inclusiveness, seeing every staff member as a valued constituent. He also advised that corrections should always be done with love and understanding.
Speaking on the transition, he described the change of baton as a matter of evolving rules and technicalities, stressing that such changes are necessary for continuity and growth. He concluded by praying that God would grant the incoming director the wisdom and grace needed to successfully pilot the affairs of the department.
In his response, Christian Effagwu expressed sincere appreciation to the outgoing director for his leadership and the opportunity to work with him. He acknowledged the solid foundation already laid and assured that he would not take it for granted but would build upon it with the support of the staff.
He emphasised his commitment to unity, stating that all hands must be on deck to achieve the department’s goals. Recognising the weight of the responsibility, he prayed for courage and divine guidance to always do the right thing. He also expressed gratitude to the management and the 8th Governing Council for entrusting him with the position of Director of Works and Services, formally accepting the responsibility.
He concluded by praying for God’s continued guidance and protection upon Engr. Nnamdi Egwu.
The ceremony was attended by notable staff members, including Mr Pius Karie, Mr Emmanuel Chukwuma Onwuoku, Engr. Michael Zegeate, Elder Kalu Okechukwu, Mr Emmanuel Anake, Engr. Ufot Ubak, Engr. Ugemabiang Mike, and Mr Abam Friday.
The event ended on a hopeful note, ushering in a new phase of leadership built on unity, cooperation, and a shared vision for the continued advancement of the College.
