Friday, a historic move was made as a major socio-political group in Akwa Ibom State, the 31 Disciples for Umo Eno, endorsed the second term aspiration of His Excellency, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, as well as the return of President Bola Tinubu and the Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio in 2027.
Setting the tone for the event, the leader of the group, who is the current Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Joe Akpan, popularly known as Abelisto, took time to enumerate the achievements of the Governor since assumption of office to include youth inclusion in governance through various political appointments, involvement of young people in decision making, training of youths in diverse soft and hard skills under Ibom – LED accelerated programs, creation of job opportunities through portal, building of youth friendly centres in all the Local Government Areas, prioritising of security and welfare of the people, investment in entrepreneurship to mention just a few.
Furthermore, the Governor’s Aide, Joe Akpan expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for all that His Excellency has done for the people of Akwa Ibom State and used the forum to reaffirm the unflinching support of Akwa Ibom youths to His administration. The high point of the event was the presentation of financial support of Ten Million Naira to His Excellency for the purchase of nomination form as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepare to conduct their gubernatorial primaries.
Reacting, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, who represented the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, commended the leadership and members of the 31 Disciples for uniting towards the promotion of good governance and power consolidation in Nigeria through the support of His Excellencies – President Bola Tinubu, Chief Godswill Akpabio and Gov. Umo Eno, whose statecraft has promoted peace, unity and development in Akwa Ibom State.
According to the SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah, “the Governor has more lofty plans for the people of Akwa Ibom State and as such, all hands must be on deck to ensure that he returns to actualise his vision of building a more economically vibrant State with high indices of enterprise, development and growth.
The epoch-making event was graced by dignitaries including the member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts – Hon. Eric Akpan.
