AWKA (CONVERSEER) – The Anambra State Police Command attributes the fire incident in Ekwusigo LGA to a fatal vehicle accident involving a truck and other vehicles, and not an attack by any armed group, contrary to false information circulating on social media.

A press statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, on Sunday, states that the unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of 21st November 2025 when a tanker loaded with PMS (fuel) collided with a car. The collision resulted in the tanker bursting into flames, with some nearby shops being damaged by the inferno.

The statement added that a tricycle operator within the area of impact was killed.
