NSUKKA (CONVERSEER) – Students of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) have reportedly beaten a fellow student identified simply as Godwin to death over an alleged phone theft.
According to a social media influencer, Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, the incident occurred on Tuesday on campus at the Eni Njoku Hostel.
Ugwuanyi posted the incident on his Facebook page with the title: “UNN Student Dies After Beating at Eni Njoku Hostel”.
He wrote, “A sad incident was reported at Eni Njoku male hostel in UNN, where a student allegedly died after being beaten by other hostel residents over a suspected phone theft.
“The student was dragged out and beaten, which left him with serious injuries. Efforts to save his life did not succeed.”

According to The Whistler, a security operative working in the university, who refused to be named because he was not authorised by his office, said the matter was being investigated.
“The incident happened, and investigations are ongoing,” he said. “It is very sad. By the end of the investigation, what really transpired would be established.”
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr Inya Agha Egwu, when contacted, said he travelled outside the university, hence not in a position to confirm it.
