Samsung unveils 14-meter version of its large-screen Onyx LED cinema display: 4K 120Hz, up to 300 nits

Samsung Electronics announced on April 14 local time that it will launch a 14-meter version of the Onyx cinematic LED display at CinemaCon 2026.

The “meter” in movie screen usually refers to the horizontal length of the screen, used to distinguish the cinema projection specifications of different screening rooms.

The display supports 4K 120Hz playback and uses a 3.3mm pixel pitch to ensure image clarity and consistency even on large screens.

The product also supports flexible expansion, extending from 14 meters to a maximum of 20 meters, achieving a larger display area through modular splicing. The Onyx series supports two mainstream aspect ratios, 2.39:1 and 1.85:1, and boasts a maximum brightness of approximately 300 nits (Samsung claims this is about six times that of traditional cinema standards), while still achieving 100% color volume at peak brightness.

In addition to movie screenings, Onyx LED cinema screens can be used in various scenarios such as sporting events, concerts, games, and corporate events. Compared to traditional projection systems, they provide stable brightness and image quality from different viewing positions and are compatible with various media server systems.
