The former coach of star gymnast Simone Biles, Aimee Boorman, is stepping down from her role at the scandal-hit German national training centre in Stuttgart.
The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) said in a statement on Tuesday that it had agreed with the US coach to end their cooperation.
The 52-year-old was hired around a year ago, a few months after gymnasts alleged “systematic physical and mental abuse” at the centre.

“She started in difficult circumstances at the training centre, which was undergoing upheaval due to allegations of abuse and still is,” the DTB statement said.
“Despite great efforts on all sides, our agreement in Stuttgart did not work as it would have been desired and required.”
Boorman’s contract had previously been extended in August until December 2028.
From 2005 to 2016, she coached US gymnast Biles, who has won 11 Olympic medals in her career.
