ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi, has been named Nigeria’s Best Local Government Chairman (Project) at the 2025 Local Government Merit Award (LOGMA) held at the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

The prestigious honour, conferred after a rigorous monitoring and evaluation process, recognised Hon. Edodi’s outstanding performance and transformative leadership in the development of Biase LGA, Cross River State.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Edodi expressed deep gratitude to God, Governor Bassey Otu, and the people of Biase for their trust and support.

“I sincerely thank God Almighty for making this day possible. I also extend my gratitude to His Excellency, Apostle Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, and the good people of Biase for giving me the opportunity to serve,” he said.

The Chairman commended his Vice Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Ekuma Ngwu, elected officials, political appointees, and community stakeholders for their unwavering partnership.

“I must commend my Vice Chairman, Hon. (Chief) Ekuma Ngwu, and all elected officials, appointees, stakeholders, and the general public of Biase for their steadfast commitment to my administration,” he added.

He attributed the national recognition to his administration’s dedication to good governance, anchored on expanding infrastructure, improving education, strengthening security, and promoting economic empowerment initiatives across Biase. These developmental efforts, he said, have advanced the council’s growth and improved residents’ quality of life.

He attended the ceremony with his wife, Mrs Stella Edodi Eyong, the Vice Chairman, the Leader of the Biase 8 Legislative Assembly Hon. Egwu Egeh Umet, and other key council officials.
