CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Former Ikom/Boki Federal House of Representatives Member, Hon. Chris Sunny Etta, has emerged as the new Consensus Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
The announcement was made today, 3 March 2026, following the party’s state pre-congress.
Etta’s emergence marks a significant development in the state’s politics, given his experience in public office.
His leadership is expected to shape the party’s strategy and direction in Cross River State.
Etta hails from Boki Local Government Area of the state.
It is also alleged that Hon. Ugana Lukpata from Yala Local Government Area is set to emerge as Deputy State Chairman, while Mr Patrick Okon from Calabar Municipality in the Southern Senatorial District is expected to retain his position as State Secretary.
The endorsement of the consensus candidates is being carried out at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, to following what was agreed upon by party stakeholders at a prior meeting held at the State Library Complex, Calabar.
The consensus EXCOs would be confirmed on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
Recall that the national leadership of the party has directed all the Ward, Local Government and State Executive Committees duly elected at the 2026 Congresses be sworn in/inaugurated today or as soon as possible in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Party’s Constitution.
