CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – A prophet of the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church in Calabar, Prince Asuquo, has been a trending topic on social media after being stripped and beaten for alleged homosexuality.
Converseer gathered that Asuquo, popularly known as Prince Boo on social media, was apprehended by suspected vigilantes in Port Harcourt last week for allegedly having intercourse with another young man.
“He went with somebody (another man) to Port Harcourt to go and commit. It was the Port Harcourt guys who did that to them,” a reliable source said.
According to a viral video spotted by Converseer on Thursday, 8th January 2026, Asuquo and his companion, who gave his name as Freeman Amon, confessed to the alleged crime.

When asked by one of the voices in the video where he comes from, Asuquo answered, “Cross River State.”
When further asked how long he has been into homosexuality, he replied, “Two years.”
The alleged local vigilantes asked how many men he had slept with, Prince Asuquo said, “I don sleep with like seven people (sic).”
When asked in Pidgin English if they are the ones sleeping with him or vice-versa, he said, “Na me dey f*ck dem (sic).”
He was also asked if he knew the Bible was against this act, he said, “I know,” adding that his family is not aware of it.
Asuquo’s supposed partner, Freedom Amon, who confessed to coming from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, said he has slept with just two men.
Converseer further gathered that Prince Asuquo was sent out of two Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church branches in Calabar before being accepted by the one at Egerton, who made him a prophet.

“The first branch of Mount Zion Lighthouse at Atimbo, where they discovered it, sent him away. He went to Etta-Agbor branch, Etta-Agbor sent him away. He now went to the Egerton branch, where Egerton welcomed him and made him a prophet,” a reliable source told Converseer.
His Facebook profile includes a rainbow sign in the description, a symbol of LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer).

In his response, Prince Asuquo denied allegations of homosexuality, claiming he was kidnapped while attending a programme in Port Harcourt, where he was invited.

He also said he was robbed of his phone after being forced to say the things he said at gunpoint.
“God bless you all. I want to let you guys know that I am now in my house. The incident happened in Port Harcourt. Someone invited me to a programme in Port Harcourt. When I got there, the person gave me an address. Immediately, I got to the location, some guys confronted me, pointed a gun at me, and then asked me to follow them slowly. I obeyed and followed them to an uncomplicated building, where they brought out guns and machetes, and then started telling me what to say. If I want to argue with them, they would beat me up and threaten to shoot me in the head.
“They attached another guy, whom I don’t know, to me… They used a parlour in that uncompleted building to make the video. Inside the building, there were more than 20 people. Some were kidnapped for ransom. Those who couldn’t pay were severely beaten and stabbed to death.
“I thank God for sparing my life. I know I am not perfect. Everything I said was on their instructions and I had to say as they instructed in order to save my life. Being alive is very important. And when there’s life, there’s hope. Until this very moment, they are still using my account to collect money from people.
“I thank God again for bringing me home safe. I thank everyone,” Prince Asuquo stated using Efik in a video spotted and translated by our Reporter last weekend.

Converseer reports that Prince Asuquo is also a member of the Passion 4 Band, one of the competitive bands in the Carnival Calabar.

Recall that on January 7, 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the “Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill” into law.
The law imposes a 14-year prison sentence on anyone who “[enters] into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union,” and a 10-year sentence on individuals or groups, including religious leaders, who “witness, abet, and aid the solemnization of a same-sex marriage or union.” It imposes a 10-year prison sentence on those who “directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationship” and anyone who “registers, operates, or participates in gay clubs, societies, and organisations,” including supporters of those groups.
At the time of filing this report, the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church has yet to release a statement on this matter.
