BEIJING (CONVERSEER) – The animated film “Zootopia 2” has grossed $660 million worldwide (approximately RMB 4.672 billion at the current exchange rate).
According to data from Maoyan Professional Edition, mainland China has become the film’s largest box office market globally, with a total gross of $338 million, while North America only grossed $173 million.
Disney’s official movie account posted a poster on Friday, with a congratulatory illustration exclusively drawn for Chinese audiences by “Zootopia 2” director Byron Howard, with the words “Xie Xie” (Thank you sincerely).
The poster reads, “Thank you all so much for your support and love; you are the warmest ‘support’ and ‘rabbit’s den’.”

Disney’s popular animated film “Zootopia 2” was released on 26 November. It was co-directed by Byrne Howard and Gerald Bush, written by Gerald Bush, and featured the voices of Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Guan Jiwei, Shakira, Quinta Brunson, and others. The Chinese voice cast included Ji Guanlin, Chang Chen, Da Peng, Fei Xiang, Jin Chen, Wang Anyu, and others.
The film tells the story of Gary the Snake, a reptile, who causes considerable chaos when he wanders into Zootopia. In order to gather intelligence and capture Gary, Judy and Nick have to go undercover in remote areas of Zootopia they’ve never been before. However, during the investigation, they realise there’s more to the story, and after helping Gary escape, they both become “fugitives.”
