Economic tree falls on 2 keke napeps, injuring 1 in Calabar

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – An Economic tree planted by the roadside to provide a canopy and beautification has turned its purpose to disaster, falling and crushing two tricycles (keke napep) in Calabar, Cross River State capital.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon at Etta-Agbor, UNICAL Secondary School Road.

One of the keke drivers, an aged man, was injured.

A keke with the number MOT/CLM/300155 was completely destroyed as one of the branches from the tree almost divided it into two.

The other keke, in which the driver was injured, was also destroyed.

Residents are calling on the government to trim or replace the trees to avert further disaster.

Recall that many people have died from similar incidents in the metropolis in recent years.
