CRSG withdraws permit granting Fulani herdsmen access from Ebonyi

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Cross River State Government (CRSG) has withdrawn the movement permit granted to Fulani herdsmen to move their cattle from Ebonyi State through to the Republic of Cameroon.

Converseer reports that the Government earlier through the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, granted access through for the herdsmen with about 500 cattle, from Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State to Cameroon.

In a press release on Saturday, 22nd November, the Ministry said it has cancelled the cattle movement permit in the state, urging security agencies to be on the alert and prevent such movement.

The release, e-signed by Ntufam Emmanuel Anom, Commissioner for Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, read:

“The Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development, on behalf of the Cross River State Government, hereby announces the cancellation of the movement permit earlier issued to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders for the movement of their cattle from Ebonyi State, across Cross River State, to Cameroon.

“This cancellation supersedes the previously issued permit.

“All security agencies are, by this notice, directed to be vigilant and prevent any such movement through Cross River State.”
