OGOJA (CONVERSEER) – The former Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Hon. Rita Agbo Ayim, has decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Converseer reports that Ayim, who was elected in 2023 as a member representing Ogoja State Constituency in the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly before being ousted halfway, disclosed this in a letter to the Ward Chairman of the PDP in Urban Ward 1 on Saturday, 15th November.

According to her resignation letter, Ayim, who also served as the Deputy Minority Leader in the Assembly, said her decision to leave the PDP was due to the fact that the party is in disarray.

She also said she has moved with her supporters to the APC to further strengthen Senator Jarigbe Agom’s course.

“I write to inform you of my decision to resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party effective immediately.

“My exit from the party is with nostalgia, considering the fact that I became a Local Government Council Chairman, a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly and Deputy Minority Leader, amongst other positions held.

“It is sad that the People’s Democratic Party is today in disarray and can no longer provide the leadership we yearn for.

“I and my teaming supporters have decided to follow our great leader, Distinguished Senator Jarigbe Agoim Jarigbe, who has provided exceptional and superlative representation to Cross River Northern Senatorial District to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

“It is my belief that my Distinguished Senator will do more for his constituents working closely with the President as a member of the ruling party.

“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read.
