CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – A reckless driver has killed a pedestrian trying to cross the road in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.
The incident which happened on Sunday night saw the driver hit the pedestrian, a man, at Murtala Mohammed Highway by Atekong Drive while speeding.
The man, whose identity is yet to be disclosed at the time of this report, died on the spot while the driver zoomed off.

The driver was chased by a brave police officer who caught up with him at the Marina area.
According to a reliable source, the driver, whose identity is not yet known, is cooling off in police custody.

“The driver was driving a private vehicle, and when he hit the man, he ran off. It was a police officer who saw the incident and chased the driver and later caught him around Marina. He has been arrested.
“The man whom the driver hit, died on the spot,” the source said.

Converseer reports that the speed bumps at that section of the road have collapsed during road maintenance.
Speed kills and the family of this man has lost a breadwinner. Please, always think of others if you choose to be reckless on the road.
