CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Government of Cross River State has concluded plans to build two flyovers in Calabar, the state capital. They include, one at Mobil by MCC and the other at Effio-Ette Junction.
This was part of the resolutions of the 12th meeting of the State’s Executive Council (EXCO) held on Monday, 20th October 2025, at the State Executive Council Chambers, Governor’s Office Complex, Calabar.
The EXCO meeting, which was presided over by Governor Bassey Otu, after deliberations, ratified and approved the engineering design for the dualisation of Mobil-MCC-Akai Efa Road with a Flyover at Mobil Junction and Effio-Ette Roundabout.
The flyovers will add to the already existing two, the one at Parliamentary Extension by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Bypass and the other at Odukpani Junction.
It also approved the procurement of 198 solar-powered street lights for installation from Tinapa Junction to Adiabo Bridge, Odukpani Local Government Area.

The EXCO further approved the design of some roads and bridges across the State in readiness for the award of construction works. These roads include:
2. Design of Katabang Bridge along the Boki East-West Road in Boki Local Government Area (LGA).
3. Design of Ofumbogha Bridge along Ofumbogha-Late John Okpa Road in Obubra LGA
4. Redesigning of Ogoja Stadium
5. Design of Obot Oko and Adiabo Akani Obio Ukpahata Roads in Odukpani LGA
6. Design for the channelisation around the Governor’s Office
7. Design for Late John Okpa Road in Obubra LGA
8. Design for UNICROSS

9. Design of Uyangha-Ifumkpa-Iko roads in Akamkpa LGA
10. Design for Satellite Town-Nyanghasang roads in Calabar Municipality
11. Design of Obot Ana Road in Biase/Odukpani LGAs
12. Design of Network of Roads in Bakassi-Akwa Obutong.
13. Design of Ugboro/Ukpa/Afrike Roads in Bekwarra LGA
14. Design of Network of Roads in Akpabuyo LGA
15. Design of Network of Roads in Abi LGA
16. Design of Network of Roads in Obanliku LGA
17. Design of Network of Roads in Etung LGA
The Council approved several other projects and programmes to be executed under the current administration.
The Governor, on the other hand, used the occasion to commend Nigerians and residents of the state in particular, for the lavish encomiums, kind words and prayers during his 66th birthday anniversary.
