GIESSEN (CONVERSEER) – Three people were injured in the central German city of Giessen on Saturday after shots were fired in a betting shop, a police spokesman said.

The individual fled on foot and was detained following the incident, which occurred close to the central Marktplatz square shortly after 3:10 PM (1310 GMT).

The victims’ lives are not thought to be in danger, the police spokesman said. No information has been released on a motive for the incident.

The shop has been cordoned off and forensic investigators are on site.

A witness said she saw a person enter the shop and heard four to five shots.

According to the Bild newspaper, the perpetrator is said to have had a handgun and was known to the police.
