CAPE TOWN (CONVERSEER) – The Special Tribunal has ordered the husband of Anele Mdoda, Mr Bonelela Mgudlwa, and Katleho Mokonyane, the daughter of Nomvula Mokonyane, to repay over R14 million linked to unlawful COVID-19 PPE contracts awarded by the Mpumalanga Department of Health.

The tribunal found that procurement rules were bypassed and compliance requirements were not met.

Following an investigation by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), the pair were held personally liable for acting fraudulently, with the court ordering them to repay the funds, forfeit profits, and cover legal costs.
