Okene (Converseer) – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed the public that the 45MVA 132/33kV transformer at Okene Transmission Station tripped during efforts to restore the 33kV Okene 1 feeder, following its restoration on April 10, 2026.
According to a statement by Ndidi Mbah, GM, Public Affairs, on Saturday, preliminary findings indicate that the tripping was triggered by a fault linked to a shattered Blue Phase current transformer (CT) at AEDC 7.5MVA Okene 1 Injection Substation.
“TCN’s maintenance crew has commenced further investigations, and the transformer has been temporarily taken out of service. Efforts are ongoing to complete the necessary work and restore the transformer to service as quickly as possible,” the statement read.
TCN appeals for the patience and understanding of electricity customers receiving supply through the said power transformer and assures that every effort is being made to rectify the fault.
