Super Eagles jump 12th place in FIFA ranking after AFCON

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Super Eagles have moved up 26th in the latest FIFA Rankings after a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Nigeria impressed in the tournament with a stunning attacking performance before losing to Morocco in the semi-final. The team defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties to win the Bronze medal.

The team recorded a stunning 12-place jump from 38th to 26th in the world rankings.

Nigeria now ranks behind AFCON finalists Senegal and Morocco, who are placed 19th and 11th, respectively, in the global standings.

The Super Eagles moved up from fifth to third in Africa.

Algeria and Egypt occupy fourth and fifth positions, respectively, on the African ranking.

Equatorial Guinea suffered the biggest drop by ten places to 107th place, while Gabon lost the most total points.

Meanwhile, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia make up the world’s top 10 teams.

Other notable movements included AFCON quarter-finalists Cameroon, who are now 45th in the world and 6th in Africa, having climbed 12 places.
