Sen. Williams begins construction of 2km Mkpani ring road

UGEP (CONVERSEER) – The Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sen. Eteng Williams, has commenced the construction of 2km Mkpani Ring Road.

The road, Converseer learned, links Aduma, Afaben, and Ajere communities in Mkpani, Yakurr Local Government Area.

The project, officially launched by Sen. Williams over the weekend, is a strategic move aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and improving the quality of life for rural dwellers.

Speaking on the project, Senator Williams assured constituents of sustained development efforts, stating: “This is just the beginning; more projects are on the horizon to transform our communities.”

According to him, the new ring road is to complement the ongoing Mkpani–Agoi Road project being executed by the Cross River State Government. The project is to serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the area by improving access to markets, boosting agricultural productivity, and sustaining local livelihoods, among others.

The Senator assured residents that the Mkpani Ring Road was only one of several projects lined up to drive growth and transform communities across the district.

Other road infrastructure projects facilitated by the Senator include the grading of access roads in Iyamoyong, Okumurutet, and Iyamitet in Obubra Local Government Area; grading of Agba 1 and Agba 2 rural roads in Boki Local Government Area; grading of Okundi, Irruan, and Wula roads also in Boki; as well as the grading of the Abia–Bakassi Road in Etung Local Government Area.

The construction of rural roads, according to observers, fulfils one of Senator Eteng Williams’ key campaign promises to constituents across the senatorial district.

The commencement of the project has attracted commendations from traditional rulers, community leaders, and political stakeholders, who described it as a demonstration of transformative leadership that prioritises the needs of the people.

Converseer reports that the people of Mkpani are excited over the project following the arrival of a bulldozer as they throw their weight behind Senator Williams.
