NEW YORK (CONVERSEER) – American singer-songwriter and actress, Sabrina Carpenter, is under backlash from music fans for constantly killing men in her music videos.
The argument is that the Grammy-winning artist has made killing men a deliberate, campy trope in her “cinematic universe” (Feather: dead guys everywhere; Taste: poison plot; Tears: stiletto to the chest, etc.).
She even jokes about it in videos: “Someone has to die every video.”
In one of her Instagram posts, which she made after shooting a video, she wrote: “No animals were harmed in the making but some men were.”
Reverse genders? Yeah, a double standard would likely be harsher. This is what fans are saying:
@Venom1s: “Imagine if a male artist made a music video showing women getting deleted and beaten up. He would be cancelled in a day. But a woman artist can literally delete men and nobody cares? Never tell me again that misandry doesn’t exist.”
@7billiethegoat: “If this was a one-time thing, I wouldn’t have a problem with it… this is like an obsessed pattern. Who knows what harm she’s done to the men in her life??”
@Tayyab_Official: “Double standards aren’t a secret anymore; the shift in the culture is clear to see. Whether it’s art or real life, the bias is showing!”
@Jaxon_mouser: “She’s a cannibal. She ate potato chips, formed like a human being. People have this problem of not wanting to admit that women can be evil too, just like guys, not all, but half, because they can. There’s so much evidence. It’s not at all a race thing or a gender thing.”
