Police arrest 6 for forcing young men into cultism

ENUGU (CONVERSEER) – Six suspects have been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly initiating young men into the Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

According to a statement by SP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, on Saturday, the suspects were arrested on 5th December 2025, by the officers of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad.

Ndukwe said the initiation was done on 25th November 2025 in a forest at Ugwu Peak, Iva Valley, Enugu North Local Government Area (LGA).

He said, “One locally made double-barrelled pistol and four cutlasses used for their criminal activities, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum used for the initiation were recovered from the suspects.”

The suspects, according to the release, are Francis Ede a.k.a ‘Saint’ (aged 22), Ogbu Fabulous, a.k.a. ‘Nwakanwa’ (aged 23), Odom Chiemerie, a.k.a ‘Coded’ (aged 28), Nweke Anayo, a.k.a ‘Chaplet” (aged 22), Obumneme Obiechina, a.k.a ‘Biggy’ (aged 30), and Chigozie Ugbene, a.k.a ‘God bless’ (aged 20).

Ndukwe said, “They all confessed to membership of the secret cult group and their involvement in the criminal acts, and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa, has reiterated his commitment to rid the state of unrepentant criminals and their activities, especially during this festive season and beyond.

He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, cooperate with the police, and promptly report criminals and suspicious activities.
