CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Governor Bassey Otu has appointed Barrister Orok Bassey Okon as the new Cross River State Head of Service (HoS).
Orok’s appointment was conveyed in a press release signed by Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Tuesday, 16th September 2025.
According to the release, the appointment takes effect from 19th September 2025.
The appointment follows the retirement of the former Head of Service, Dr Innocent Eteng.
“His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has graciously approved the appointment of Mr Orok Bassey Okon as the new Head of the State Civil Service, effective 19th September 2025. This follows the meritorious retirement of Dr Innocent Ebri Eteng, whose illustrious career in the service of the State stands as a beacon of dedication and excellence.
“Governor Otu charged the new Head of Service to lead with vision, integrity, and reform-driven zeal, fostering efficiency, professionalism, and accountability across the public service.
“The appointment underscores the administration’s steadfast resolve to enthrone competent leadership and strengthen the machinery of governance for optimal service delivery to the people of Cross River State,” the release read.
Converseer reports that before the appointment, Orok served as the Permanent Secretary (Exco) in the Governor’s Office.
