CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of Mrs Akedo Okoi Edet as Statistician-General of the state.
Edet’s appointment was disclosed in a statement signed by Mr Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
According to the statement, “The appointment takes immediate effect and reinforces government’s commitment to data-driven governance and excellence.”
Adding, “This strategic appointment underscores the administration’s resolve to strengthen statistical systems, enhance evidence-based planning, and deepen transparency in policy formulation.”
Mrs Edet is expected to deploy her expertise toward advancing data management across the state.
