NLC demands wage awards, tax relief for workers

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has raised alarm over the sharp rise in petrol, blaming global tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

In a statement on Monday, the labour union says the development has adversely affected the Nigerian workers and exposed the weakness of the country’s downstream petroleum sector.

The NLC is calling on the Federal Government to urgently revive the refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, while demanding wage awards, tax relief and improved support for vulnerable citizens.

It also urged the government to ensure that the projected ₦30 trillion oil windfall from the Middle East crisis is used to cushion the economic impact on Nigerians.
