LAGOS (CONVERSEER) – Trinidadian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, known professionally as Nicki Minaj, has said she will sue Nigerian influencer, known as Dr Penking (@drpenking) over a post he made about her on social media X on Saturday.
Dr Penking quoted a fan-posted video of the 43-year-old rapper in a pink bikini, captioning it that she has gotten old and should retire; the post gained over 53,000 likes and over 4 million views.
“Nicki Minaj should understand that she has gotten old and retire,” Dr Penking’s post read.
Nicki Minaj reportedly responded in a now-deleted post by tagging her lawyers and accusing him of harassment over the video, though no lawsuit has been filed yet.
“Do you have permission to use this video that I filmed years ago to harass me on this or any other platform? You’ve just been added to the suit. @TonyBuzbee2 check DM,” Nicki’s now-deleted post, tagging her lawyer, who recently won a lawsuit worth over $100 million, read.
Penking defended his words as personal opinion and free speech, comparing it to fans urging Cristiano Ronaldo to retire at 41, while reactions split between support for his stance and defences of Nicki against body-shaming.
“And for those asking ‘Why did you post her video?’, kindly note that I didn’t post her video and have never posted her video before, ‘I don’t have such time.’ I only quoted a video that was posted by an X page called ‘Hourly Minaj’ and expressed my opinion. Any video posted on X is open source and can be quoted by anyone without intimidation. I shall not be intimidated,” One of Penking’s follow-up posts read.

In another post, Dr Penking wrote: “Tell Nicki Minaj that Myself and my team are ready and eagerly anticipating her papers.
“Freedom of speech and expression is supreme in all constitutions in the world and I have the right to express my opinion at all times.
“Is she old? Yes she is 43. There is nothing harassing about this. It is a publicly accessible information on Wikipedia.
“Should she retire? I think she should. That’s my personal opinion and I stand by it. You can agree or disagree.
“I will not be bullied or intimidated by Nicki Minaj or any other ‘celebrity.'”
