New Afro house star Okwanda eyes own record label

JOHANNESBURG (CONVERSEER) – Emerging Afro House artist, Okwanda, born Nokwanda Zulu (21) from Madwaleni, Nquthu in KwaZulu-Natal, is making waves in the South African music scene and has ambitions to own her own recording label.

Now based in Moddernfontein, Johannesburg, Okwanda has worked with top artists Musiholiq and Sir Trill, collaborating on hits like Phatha Phatha.

She credits her rural upbringing and family values for her work ethic and musical foundation. She says singing in her mother tongue has resonated strongly with fans, a shift she made at age 15.
