MPUMALANGA (CONVERSEER) – A 43-year-old Eswatini national has been arrested in Sundra, Mpumalanga, after police uncovered illicit cigarettes hidden inside water tanks on a truck.
Delmas police, working alongside the Sundra SAPS and private security companies, intercepted the vehicle on 5 December 2025 after receiving a tip-off.
Officers discovered twelve 5 000-litre tanks packed with cartons of illegal cigarettes, amounting to 25 pallets valued at approximately R17.4 million.

The suspect was taken into custody and is expected to appear in the Delmas District Court today Monday, 8 December 2025.
