SEMINOLE (CONVERSEER) – Lake Seminole Square proudly hosted its annual Veterans Day Programme today, honoring the bravery, sacrifice, and service of United States veterans — including many of its own residents. The heartfelt ceremony featured stirring tributes, patriotic music, reflections on the meaning of Veterans Day, and a special letter from Governor Ron DeSantis recognising resident and World War II fighter pilot Bob McClintock on his 107th birthday.

The programme began with a moving performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “The Pledge of Allegiance,” followed by opening remarks that reflected on the history and significance of Veterans Day, including the meaning behind the historic moment of 11/11/11, marking the end of World War I. Residents, staff, and guests joined together in expressing gratitude to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
A highlight of the event was “A Salute to the Armed Forces,” featuring the “Armed Forces Medley” and the debut of the U.S. Space Force song, accompanied by a special introduction recognising this newest branch of service. Several residents shared personal reflections and stories of their time in uniform, providing an intimate glimpse into the courage and camaraderie that define military life.

A video presentation of President Ronald Reagan’s speech reminded all in attendance of the enduring spirit of American freedom and unity. The community’s chorus performed a touching rendition of “We the People,” filling the room with pride and reverence.

The ceremony concluded with a special message from Governor DeSantis, delivered in the form of a letter to resident Bob McClintock, congratulating him on his 107th birthday, which was on November 12, and thanking him for his distinguished service as a World War II fighter pilot. McClintock’s life and legacy stand as a testament to the courage and dedication of the Greatest Generation.

“This day is about remembering the sacrifices made by so many — and honoring those who continue to inspire us through their service and stories,” said Daniel Martins-Morgado, life enrichment director at Lake Seminole Square. “It’s a privilege to celebrate our veterans and show our gratitude in this meaningful way.”
