MINNEAPOLIS (CONVERSEER) – The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Kristi Noem, has stated that the ICE officer who opened fire was in fear for his life after the woman allegedly tried to use her vehicle as a weapon.

Noem called the incident “an act of domestic terrorism.” The incident began when law enforcement agents were attempting to remove an ICE vehicle that had gotten stuck in the snow, says Noem.

“A mob of agitators that were harassing them all day began blocking them in,” she says about the crowd that formed around the agents. The woman, says Noem, was stalking and impeding officers, before making the decision to “weaponise” her vehicle in an effort to “kill” officers.

The ICE agent was hit by the vehicle, Noem says, and the agency is following its standard guidelines on investigations for an officer-involved shooting. She asked people to pray for the officer and said agents have been facing a steady increase in threats and assaults.
