'I will defect to ADC and nothing Chris Agbeh can do' - Ogoja Vice Chairman dares Chairman

OGOJA (CONVERSEER) – The Vice Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu, has dared the Chairman, Hon. Christopher Agbeh, that he will defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and nothing will happen.

Yakubu stated this on Tuesday, following a statement by the Chairman, banning public gatherings and large crowd meetings.

The Vice Chairman dared the Chairman’s directive, saying he would go ahead with his planned defection rally. He’s defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yakubu said Agbeh is scared of being exposed, politically, that’s why he’s making efforts to stop the rally.

“It is obvious Chris Agbeh is scared that the Governor will see how unpopular he is, by the time I hold my defection rally, so he is making efforts to see that I do not hold a defection rally.

“It is very laughable and all their antics are anticipated. I will not be bullied, what will be will be. On what grounds is Chris Agbeh suspending public gatherings?

“I will defect to the ADC, and there is nothing Chris Agbeh can do about it!” Yakubu stated in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Earlier, Yakubu decried witch-hunting, after his campaign office landlord, a member of the APC returned his rent.

“I wish to publicly let everyone who knew where our campaign office was, know that our landlord, who is a member of the APC has made refunds to us for the space we had gotten from him for the purpose of our campaign secretariat, after actors in power allegedly compelled him to,” Yakubu stated.

The Vice Chairman alleged that campaign materials at the secretariat were also destroyed.

“Our campaign materials put up by supporters around the secretariat are already being destroyed in the streets of Ogoja by persons acting on the script of those who think they will be in power forever.

“I am even more determined by all that is happening now, it shows that they have acknowledged us as a threat to their lacklustre representation. We won’t relent, we will keep our heads high and play politics devoid of violence.

“The lower they go, the higher we go!” Yakubu stated.

Recall that Hon. Agbeh, through his Chief Press Secretary, Hon. Sonnie Okem, PhD, on Monday, issued a directive, banning public gatherings and large crowd meetings within the council.

“This is to inform the general public that all public gatherings and large crowd meetings within Ogoja Local Government Area are hereby suspended unless prior permission is obtained from the Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council,” the directive read in part.

It further advised members of the public to comply strictly with the directive, adding, “Any individual or group found violating this order shall be prosecuted accordingly.”

Converseer reports that last year, Yakubu threatened to defect but made a U-turn after intervention from several political bigwigs.
