OGOJA (CONVERSEER) – There has been tension in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State following the alleged killing of a 26-year-old woman by her supposed husband.
The man, 35, identified as Malime Sunday Ejor, allegedly killed his wife, Moshe Lucy Igu, 26, on the farm over suspicion of infidelity.
Converseer gathered that Ejor allegedly used a machete on the victim at the early hours of March 28, 2026, while they were working in the farm in Nwang, Ekajuk in Ogoja.

The incident which happened at about 6:00 AM stirred the community, who almost lynched the suspect but was intercepted by the police who later arrested him and took him into custody at the Ogoja Area Police Command.
Today, being March 30, 2026, the tension escalated as women from Ibil, where the victim hailed from, and Nwang, where the suspect hails from, marched to the Area Command, demanding that the suspect be released to them. However, the police held their ground.
A statement by the Cross River State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, on Monday, stated that, “The suspect reportedly took the victim to a nearby stream close to the farm, where he inflicted machete cuts on her, resulting in her death.
“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives promptly visited the scene. The suspect was apprehended and rescued from an attempted mob action by angry youths. He is currently in police custody for his safety and ongoing investigation.”
Eitokpah added, “The case is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation.”
He said the protesters damaged a police vehicle and eight people were arrested but later released.
“Further information reaching us on 30/03/2026 at about 1030hrs, that women and youths from Nwang I & II and other parts of Ekajuk Clan, Ogoja, stormed our Office at Area Command/Division, Ogoja, demanding the release of the murder suspect earlier transferred to SCID Calabar.
“The crowd turned violent, attacking officers and damaging a Hyundai vehicle and parts of the RRS building. Smoke canisters were deployed to disperse them, and eight (8) suspects were arrested.
“Situation is now under control. The suspects were later released to a community leader to douse tension.”
Eitokpah further disclosed that the remains of the victim have been evacuated to General Hospital, Ogoja for Autopy and medical examination.
Meanwhile, the suspect confessed to the alleged crime in an interrogation video obtained by Converseer.
According to the video, which was translated by our Reporter, the suspect said he learned his wife was sleeping with his friend, which is why he acted the way he did.
