CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The family of renowned Highlife Musician Effiom Trombone, known formally as Effiom Bassey Effiom, has announced the loss of their beloved matriarch, Mrs Arit Bassey Effiom, who passed away on 28th June 2025, after a brief illness.
The funeral service for the late Mrs Effiom will be held on Friday, 15th August 2025, at The Dome, Calabar Municipal Council Secretariat by 11 AM. The service will be officiated by the Apostolic Church, Diamond Hill Assembly, Calabar.

As the chief mourner, Effiom Bassey, also the Commissioner for Marketing at Cross River Carnival Commission, has extended an invitation to friends, family, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the life and legacy of their beloved mother.
In a release made public on Thursday, 10th July 2025, Effiom said the family will be honoured by the presence of those who can attend the funeral service or send messages of condolence via condolencesforekanene@gmail.com.
“May the soul of our Mrs Arit Bassey Effiom rest in peace,” Highlife musician Effiom Trombone noted.
