CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has suspended the recent local government recruitment exercise.

This was contained in a release signed by Mr Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Wednesday, 12th November 2025.

Converseer reports that the suspension of the recruitment exercise follows the resignation of Mr Darlington Basey Eyo as the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission.

The release described the development as a gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering in the Commission’s recent recruitment exercise.

“Consequently, His Excellency has directed the immediate suspension of the compromised employment process pending a fresh, transparent, and merit-driven recruitment,” the release stated.
