CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Governor Bassey Otu has revamped the Cross River State Garment Factory, turning it into a modern commercial industry.
New photos emerging from the factory on Friday show that the factory, long abandoned, is undergoing a complete rehabilitation and is wearing a new look.
Recall that Otu, during his first media briefing in 2024, pledged not to embark on any new project but to complete those projects for which taxpayers’ money was spent.
“Today, he is keeping that promise, and in photos, the complete rehabilitation of the Cross River State Garment Factory is ongoing with major repairs being conducted,” Andrea Inyang, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, stated on Friday.
“In due course, our garment factory will be up and running,” he added.
The factory was built by former Governor Ben Ayade, but was shut down during the winding down of his 8-year term.
The factory worked for a couple of years, producing for several security agencies, NYSC, but was later left in a deplorable state before Otu took over.
