CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Local Government Service Commission Board over job scandal.
According to a statement signed by Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Monday, 17th November 2025, the development followed reports of gross abuse of office and widespread employment racketeering in the Commission’s recruitment exercise.
The Governor described the actions uncovered as concerning, a betrayal of public trust and an affront to the ethics of service, according to Obogo.

“His Excellency reiterates that the compromised recruitment process remains suspended as earlier directed, pending a fresh, transparent, and merit-driven exercise that reflects the administration’s uncompromising standards.
“The Governor further reaffirmed his zero tolerance for corruption and his commitment to restoring confidence in public institutions,” the statement added.
Recall that the Chairman of the Commission, Darlington Basey Eyo, resigned over the issue last week.
