CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo and Dr Calistus Aruku to head strategic empowerment initiatives in the state.
Barr. Eyo Nsa Ekpo was appointed as Chairman of the Cross River Social Investment Programme (SIP), while Dr Calistus Aruku was appointed as Chairman of the Cross River State Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES).
Barr. Ekpo is a seasoned legal practitioner and public policy expert.
Meanwhile, Dr Aruku is an accomplished scholar and development strategist.
Their appointments were contained in a press statement signed by Linus Obogo, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, on Wednesday, 12th November 2025.

“Governor Otu described both appointments as a deliberate step towards institutionalising people-centred governance and deepening the culture of merit, capacity, and excellence.
“He charged the appointees to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and vision,” the statement added.
