CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Governor Bassey Otu has approved the appointment of five sports enthusiasts into the Cross River State Sports Commission.
The appointments were contained in a release signed by Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), on 24th November 2025, with reference number: ‘Our Ref: SSG/GSA/102/VOL.VI/101.’
According to the release, Etta Lawrence Itanya was appointed as Chairman, while four others were appointed as members.

“The Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassy Edet Otu, has appointed five members into the Cross River State Sports Commission, effective immediately.
“The appointees are:
1. Etta Lawrence Itanya – Chairman
2. Queen Gladys Festus – Member
3. Hon. Njarani Gabriel Ushie – Member
4. Sunny Ndep Ebam – Member
5. Ekpenyong Effiom Okon – Member
“The appointments are part of the government efforts to promote sports development and excellence in the State,” the release read.
