ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – Yesterday, Friday, 27 March 2026, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, elected new national executive (EXCOs) officers during its 8th National Convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja.
Among those elected were Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who was returned as the National Chairman of the APC, while Surajudeen Basiru emerged as the National Secretary at the party’s 4th Elective National Convention.
Converseer reports that their emergence was announced by the Convention Election Committee as part of several party officials elected through a consensus arrangement.
The convention was attended by President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, among other top leaders of the party.
It also drew party leaders and delegates from across the country who gathered to elect the new National Working Committee members.

Converseer further reports that the APC was formed in 2013. The party emerged through a coalition of three major opposition parties and a faction of a fourth. They include ACN, CPC, ANPP, and a breakaway APGA.
