KEBBI (CONVERSEER) – A major political shift has occurred in Kebbi State as the former National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mariya Waziri, alongside thousands of her supporters, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

She was received by Governor Nasir Idris in Birnin Kebbi.

The high-profile defection was formalised at a gathering in Birnin Kebbi, where Governor Nasir Idris, who received the new APC members, described the development as a boost to democratic consolidation in the state.

Governor Idris says the influx of new members reflects growing confidence in the policies and programmes of the APC-led administration at both the state and the national levels.

The Governor noted that ongoing initiatives are designed to complement the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the government will sustain efforts to attract more supporters to the ruling party.

In her remarks, Mariya Waziri said her decision to join the APC was informed by the desire to contribute more effectively to the development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

She pledged loyalty to the party and called on her supporters to remain law-abiding and supportive of government policies.
