ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the Independence Anniversary parade earlier scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 1st October 2025, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence celebration.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the government stressed that the cancellation does not in any way diminish the significance of the milestone anniversary.
“The cancellation is in no way a diminishment of the significance of this milestone anniversary, and the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” the statement read.
According to the government, all other programmes lined up for the Independence Anniversary will continue as planned. It also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the decision and extended appreciation to Nigerians, members of the diplomatic community, and invited guests for their understanding and cooperation.
The Federal Government further urged citizens to support the ongoing reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the collective effort to build a greater Nigeria.
Recall that a similar development was reported last year.
