FCT Police launch 3-month massive crackdown on criminals

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced a large-scale operation to clamp down on criminal elements across Abuja and its environs as part of renewed efforts to maintain peace and security.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered the deployment of tactical and surveillance teams drawn from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Police Mobile Force (PMF), and the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) to join forces with Divisional Police Formations and the Department of Operations in the extensive cleanup exercise.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the special operation commenced in November and will run through January 2026. The operation is targeted at identifying, dislodging, and apprehending criminals hiding within black spots, slums, and vulnerable communities across the FCT.

CP Dantawaye stated that the exercise would be carried out with intensity and consistency to ensure the safety and security of residents. He instructed operatives to dominate all identified hideouts and maintain a strong security presence throughout the operation.

The Police Commissioner also warned officers participating in the operation to maintain professionalism and discipline, noting that acts of misconduct or unprofessional behaviour would not be tolerated. He urged all personnel to discharge their duties with integrity, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.

Dantawaye further appealed to residents to cooperate fully with police operatives during the exercise and report any suspicious activity or movement to the nearest police station. He emphasised that community collaboration and intelligence sharing were critical to sustaining the relative peace in the capital city.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the ongoing efforts aimed at ridding the FCT of criminal elements and ensuring that Abuja remains safe for all.
