Egypt’s Aswan town has been named the D-8 Tourism City of the Year for 2026.
This puts its ancient heritage, Nubian culture, and Nile landscapes on the international stage.
The Developing-8 (D-8)—which includes Nigeria, Egypt, and six other nations, commends Aswan as a growing sustainable tourism hub.
Following Antalya (2025), the title aims to boost visibility and intra-D-8 tourism, the D-8 Secretary General Ambassador Sohail Mahmoud called it a “highly important achievement.”

In 2026, Aswan will host joint promotions and public-private projects to strengthen cultural and tourism ties among member states.
