CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Her Majesty, Obongawan (Barr.) Marie Ikpeme Erete, Village Head of Isong Inyang Ikot Ikpeme in Odukpani Local Government Area, Cross River State has called for behavioural change to enhance cultural re-birth in the Efik Kingdom.
Obongawan Barr. Marie Ikpeme, who doubles as Queen Aruk III of Ikpeme Royal House, Eniong Abatim Efik Eburutu, while fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar in her palace, said her mission is to revive most of the Efut culture, which is almost extinct due to Western influence, according to the Mbonga Mo Misoh of Efut-Nation.

The beautiful, intelligent lady and shining star stressed that she has trained and pioneered empowerment of her subjects in Fishery, Trading, handicrafts, and eco-tourism with humanitarianism involving cultural rebirth as focus, showcasing dance, and dressing to project Efik Tradition in the diaspora in the United Kingdom after successful outings in Lagos and Ibadan in Nigeria.

Queen Aruk III give kudos to His Eminence, Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, the Treaty King for his support in promoting and enhancing the Efik cultural heritage.
